I'm happy you chose this post to make your very own Percy Jackson Camp necklace. For this one there are two ways of making it and I will explain both ways. This necklace is Percy's after the first series.
Material Needed If With Clay
- Polymer Clay or Potter's Clay
- Paint
- Glaze
- Toothpicks
- Leather or fabric cord
- Clasp for finishing(you can also just tie knots or make a bow)
Material Needed If With Wooden Beads
- Unpolished Wooden Beads
- Paint
- Glaze
- Leather or fabric cord
- Clasp for finishing(you can also just tie knots or make a bow)
Clay Bead Necklace
1. Roll clay into small balls of 0.5 - 1 cm diameter. You will need 4 beads.
2. Make holes with the toothpicks and keep the toothpicks in the holes so they don't stick back.
3. Now this step might vary according the clay you bought. So read the package directions. But if you have real potter's clay you have to bake it.
4. When dry, take all four beads and paint the design of each camp year on them. Here's a picture to help you. Now this one isn't very accurate because in the book the Golden Fleece on Thalia's Pine Tree is on the bead, not some sort of sheep. Also in the third book there is no mention of the 3rd bead Percy gets, but if you choose to make it then you will need 5 beads.
5. Once you're done wait for the paint to dry and spray the beads with some glaze.
6. When the glaze is dry, put the beads on the chord.
7. For the finishing you can choose whether you want to pout clasps on it or just make knots or even just tie a bow. However if you choose to use clasps then you might need to be equipped with tools. Tip: If you want your beads to stay in place make a knot after the last bead and before the first bead.
If you make knots as a finishing, here's a visual presentation:
There you go ! You're done !!!!
Wooden Bead Necklace
1. If you couldn't find unpolished wooden beads then add a layer of paint to the laminated beads.
2. Paint the design of each camp year.(You can refer to the pictures above)
3. Wait for it to dry.
4. Glaze beads.
5. Once they are dry, put beads onto the cord. Like above you can chose the way you do your finishing. Making the bow is the easiest in my opinion. Tip: If you want your beads to stay in place make a knot after the last bead and before the first bead.
P.S. This is the easiest way of making the necklace....also the laziest
Please feel free to send me your necklaces or to comment below if you think I can improve anything ! :)
